Our Customer Reviews
We used Ferndale to send our 3 large dogs to Thailand. Fantastic service from start to finish. They were very responsive when communicating with us, and were very organised with everything, and on time for every appointment. We sent our dogs as cargo with Emirates, who were also excellent. The agents Ferndale used in Thailand were also superb. We didn’t have a single issue in the whole process, and highly recommended them. If you’re worried about shipping your pups, then look no further than Ferndale.
Many thanks to Ferndale Kennels and Carmen for arranging the transport of my two dogs to Thailand. The experience was efficient and courteous , my dogs arrived in great shape . It was re assuring to know they were in good hands.
I just wanted to thank you for the smooth process of delivering our dogs overseas to our new home. It took a few days for them to adjust, but I think they are comfortable now. Really was reassured during the whole journey, and the handover to the Thai agents went very well. She was immediately in touch with me and updated with photos until they arrived to Samui. Many thanks for your great service,
We were extremely impressed with Ferndale Pet Travel. From the time we submitted the initial enquiry for our babies Joey (dog) and Boogie (cat) relocating from Thailand to Australia via Singapore the communication was excellent. There was a very obvious sense of care and attention to detail. Instructions were clear and we felt we knew exactly what was to happen when. Leaving them to fly from 2 countries was an anxious time but the email updates and photos/videos made us smile. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Ferndale Pet Travel to fellow pet owners on the move. Thank you so much. Adding to that, we also move Joey from Hong Kong to Thailand 6 years ago.. with the help of Ferndale Pet Travel.. it’s just a proven that Ferndale Pet Travel is excellent for their services. Thanks Ferndale Pet Travel! Finally Joey and Boogie are home

Planning a move to or from Thailand?
Routes coordinated from Thailand
Our local team helps families move their pets into and out of Thailand, including:
- Thailand to or from the UK.
- Thailand to or from Hong Kong.
- Thailand to or from Singapore.
- Other destinations: tell us where you would like to go, and we will check the available route and preparations for your pet.
What entry preparation may be required for Thailand?
We help you prepare for your dog or cat’s arrival in Thailand, arranging the permit and document steps and coordinating veterinary preparation. Depending on where your pet is travelling from, this may include an import permit, a readable microchip, current vaccinations, parasite treatments and veterinary certificates. We check the order and timing for your journey before bookings are finalised.
We can help you explore arrival through Bangkok or Phuket and plan the onward journey to your destination. Our team checks the flight, crate space and local handling arrangements to find a suitable option for your pet.
Planning around the individual pet
Getting to know your pet helps us plan with care. Our team considers the needs behind the travel arrangements:
- Frail or very elderly pets may need extra veterinary assessment before we recommend a journey.
- Very large dogs may need cargo travel, with a suitable crate and aircraft, rather than cabin or excess-baggage arrangements.
- Pets with a health condition or medication need their veterinary care and fitness to travel considered together.
- Nervous dogs and cats may benefit from more time to become comfortable in their travel crate.
- Flat-faced (brachycephalic) breeds, including pets with brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS), need particular attention to heat and breathing risks.
We look at age, breed, health, temperament, crate readiness, climate and journey duration together, and explain any extra preparation your pet may need.
Returning from Thailand to Hong Kong
If you are bringing your dog or cat home to Hong Kong from Thailand, speak to us early so we can help plan the preparation and quarantine arrangements. AFCD currently places Thailand in Group IIIA, with a minimum of 30 days’ quarantine when the requirements are met. We check the current AFCD requirements for your pet’s permits, vaccinations, testing, certification and transport.
Planning an onward move to Australia
A pet relocation to Australia from Thailand needs an onward-travel plan: dogs and cats cannot be imported directly from a non-approved country. Under the current Australian requirements, your pet must first spend at least 180 continuous days in an approved country immediately before export and meet the other import conditions. We can help you understand the preparations and assess a suitable route. This is a regulatory stay in an approved country, not simply time at a Ferndale office.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ferndale support moves both to and from Thailand?
Yes. Our Thailand team helps dogs and cats travel both into and out of the country, including journeys involving the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore. If you have another destination in mind, we would be happy to explore the options with you.
Who coordinates the Thailand part of the journey?
Ferndale’s Thailand team coordinates your pet’s local journey. Our Hong Kong or Singapore colleagues are involved when the route includes those cities; established partners support other overseas stages where needed. We bring the handovers together so you have support from preparation through to arrival.
What changes the travel plan for an individual pet?
We get to know your dog or cat before recommending a journey. Age, breed, health, temperament, crate experience, heat and travel time all matter. An older, very large or flat-faced pet may need extra veterinary advice or different arrangements, and we will help you understand those options.
What should I know about returning from Thailand to Hong Kong?
Please talk to us before you leave Hong Kong if you are planning a return. Thailand is currently in AFCD’s Group IIIA, so we need to plan the permit, veterinary preparation, testing and quarantine arrangements for your dog or cat’s return—not just the outward flight.
Can a pet travel directly from Thailand to Australia?
No. A dog or cat cannot travel directly from Thailand to Australia under the current non-approved-country rules. An eligible journey requires at least 180 continuous days in an approved country immediately before export, as well as the other Australian import conditions. We can help you work through the preparation and assess the onward route.
Will a pet returning from Thailand to Hong Kong need quarantine?
Yes. Under the current AFCD Group IIIA rules, dogs and cats must spend at least 30 days in an AFCD Animal Management Centre or licensed quarantine centre when the requirements are met. AFCD can extend that period when necessary. We help you plan the preparation and arrangements around your pet’s needs.
Can Ferndale coordinate veterinary and document steps?
Yes. We help with permits and documents and coordinate the veterinary preparation, crate, airline arrangements, collection and arrival steps you need. Let us know whether you want door-to-door help or support with particular stages.
What information is needed to start a Thailand relocation plan?
Tell us a little about your plans and your dog or cat so we can give you useful advice:
- Origin and destination.
- Intended travel date or travel window.
- Species, breed, age and number of pets.
- Weight and full body measurements.
- Health conditions, medication and any special needs.
- Crate experience and known behavioural concerns.
- The support required, from specific stages to door-to-door coordination.
