Personal support from preparation to arrival

You can ask Ferndale to arrange a full door-to-door move, a door-to-port journey or just the stages where you need help. Our own teams in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand work with established overseas partners, giving you one point of coordination. Some of our senior team have moved internationally with their own pets, too. We understand how personal the journey is, and shape the plan around your pet and your family.

What “Together, anywhere.” means at Ferndale

“Together, anywhere.” reflects Ferndale’s belief that pets are family and should be able to move with the people they belong with. Pet mobility is part of modern international life, whether the journey is a permanent relocation or travel. Ferndale helps families move forward without leaving part of the family behind.

“Trusted care for every journey” means bringing that understanding to the practical work: the veterinary preparation, documents, crate, flights and handovers that help your pet travel with you. We take care of those details because we know who is waiting at the other end.

Experience and professional standards

Ferndale has been caring for travelling pets since 1994 and has been an IPATA member since 1997. Our veterinary expertise and relocation experience help us plan the details with your pet’s welfare in mind.

What does our international pet relocation service include?

We help with pet imports and exports, bringing the practical steps into one coordinated journey. Depending on your route and the support you would like, our service can include:

  • Planning a suitable route around your destination, dates and pet’s needs.
  • Arranging the permits, licences, certificates and documents your pet’s route requires.
  • Veterinary services for pet relocation, including coordination with your usual veterinarian where appropriate.
  • Helping you choose and measure a travel crate, prepare your pet to use it and arrange an airline-accepted custom crate if needed.
  • Pet cargo booking and liaison with the airline.
  • Collection, departure handling and handover at the origin.
  • Arrival checks, customs or document support where included, and destination handover.
  • Local delivery through the responsible Ferndale team or established partner.
  • Boarding or quarantine arrangements when the route requires them and a suitable option is available.
  • Insurance options on request, where available for the route and policy.

We explain the preparations, who will care for each stage and what you can expect next, so you do not have to manage the moving parts alone.

Care starts before the journey

Every dog and cat has different needs. We help you prepare for travel with your pet’s wellbeing in mind, looking beyond the paperwork to consider:

  • Identity: the readable microchip number and the recorded sex and breed details must match the pet and the documents.
  • Health: the pet should be free from signs of infectious disease or another condition that could affect airline or border acceptance.
  • Fitness to travel: age, medical history, medication and the demands of the proposed route are considered together.
  • Behavioural welfare: nervous pets may need a longer crate-familiarisation plan before departure.
  • Journey conditions: temperature, ventilation, crate space, access to water and the total journey duration can change route suitability.

We use that understanding to advise on a suitable plan for your pet. Sometimes this means adjusting the route or allowing time for further veterinary advice before travelling.

How your pet’s journey is planned

We guide you through five stages, keeping your pet’s needs and your family’s plans together:

  1. Tell us about your move and your dog or cat, including any worries or special needs.
  2. We review the route, your pet’s suitability for travel and the help you would like.
  3. We bring the veterinary appointments, permits and documents into a clear timetable.
  4. We coordinate the crate, pet flight, collection and departure handovers.
  5. We arrange the arrival support, customs steps and delivery included in your plan.

We will explain the timing after reviewing your pet and route, and help you understand what needs to happen next.

Local teams and popular pet relocation routes

Our teams in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand work with established partners around the world to help your pet reach their destination. We coordinate the local arrangements and handovers, so your family has support beyond the flight itself.

Explore pet relocation to and from the UK, pet relocation to and from Japan and pet relocation to and from Thailand. Each journey needs different preparations, and our team will help you understand those for your dog or cat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can Ferndale coordinate for an international pet move?

We can help with planning, permits and documents, veterinary preparation, crate and airline arrangements, collection, arrival and local delivery. Whether you want door-to-door support or help with a few stages, we tailor the service to your dog or cat’s journey.

Does Ferndale manage every stage directly?

Our own teams handle the local work in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand. Elsewhere, we work with established partners and coordinate the handovers for you. We explain the arrangements before the move and remain your point of coordination.

Do you book the owner’s passenger flight?

You book your own passenger ticket. We arrange your pet’s travel services and can advise on how your plans fit together, including any rules about travelling within a particular period of your dog or cat.

What information is needed for a relocation plan?

Tell us a little about your family’s plans and your pet so we can offer useful advice:

  • Origin and destination.
  • Intended travel date or travel window.
  • Species, breed, age and number of pets.
  • Weight and body measurements for each pet.
  • Relevant health conditions, medication or special needs.
  • Whether the family wants door-to-door support or help with selected stages.
You can send these details through the enquiry form below. They help us tailor the crate, travel plan and level of support to your dog or cat.

How early should I start planning?

Please get in touch before you fix your travel date. Some destinations require tests, permits, waiting periods or quarantine preparation well in advance. We can review your dog or cat’s records and help you work out a realistic timetable.

Can Ferndale coordinate veterinary preparation?

Yes. We can coordinate the microchipping, vaccinations, tests, health certificates and other veterinary preparations your pet’s route requires, including working with your usual veterinarian where appropriate.

How is travel-crate planning handled?

We help you choose a suitable travel crate and prepare your dog or cat to feel more familiar with it before departure. Share your pet’s breed, weight and body measurements with us so we can check the space, crate and airline requirements for the journey.

Can every pet use the same route?

Not always. Age, breed, health, temperament, heat and airline restrictions can affect the options. We look at your dog or cat’s individual needs and help you understand which arrangements may be suitable.
